After rain, bass around docks usually slide to the shadier, calmer water and set up tight to posts, floats, and the darkest back corners. With the current weather showing falling pressure and light drizzle, that’s a classic feed window—especially on the downwind side of the docks where bait gets pushed. If you can only make one presentation, go with a compact jig in craw or bluegill colors. If the water is stained or you’re getting hung up, switch to a Texas rig with a creature bait or worm for a quieter entry and better penetration.
What to throw first

Simple dock game plan
- Start on the darkest, deepest dock face first.
- Skip to the back corners, then work outward to posts and shade lines.
- In post-rain mud, use darker baits or contrast colors; in clearer runoff, use natural green pumpkin or shad tones.
