Throw a 3/8 oz spinnerbait or chatterbait first, then follow with a skip-able soft jerkbait or wacky rig under the darkest dock shade. After rain, bass often slide to dock corners, shade lines, and the first clean water near the bank. With falling pressure and cloud cover, they’re more willing to chase, but gusty wind can make them tuck tighter under cover—so start with a moving bait to find active fish, then slow down.
First move
- Primary bait: Blackwake Spinnerbait in 3/8 oz
- Cadence: slow-roll it so it ticks posts, then speed up when it clears open gaps
- Target zone: outside corners, dock walkways, and shaded pockets where runoff meets cleaner water
Why it should work
- Rain + falling pressure usually triggers a short feeding window
- Overcast/low light lets bass roam farther from the deepest shade
- A spinnerbait gives you flash and vibration to cover water fast around docks
