Throw a spinnerbait first around the dock edges, then follow with a skip-friendly soft bait under the shade lines.
First move
- Start with a 3/8 oz spinnerbait or bladed jig in white/chartreuse or shad colors.
- Run it parallel to dock walkways, posts, and outside corners.
- Retrieve steady and medium-fast, then add a brief pause when it clears a post or shade pocket.
Why it should work
- After rain, bass often slide to cleaner water, shaded cover, and dock shade.
- With rising pressure and partly cloudy conditions, fish may want a moving bait, but windy/choppy edges can still help.
- Your local water is late spring, so bass are commonly using shallow cover and shade.
Adjust if
- If the water is stained, go louder and bulkier: a Colorado-blade spinnerbait or buzzbait.
- If bites are missed, switch to a skippable soft jerkbait or tube and pitch it deep under docks.
- If you see bluegill activity, try green pumpkin or watermelon.
Backup plan
- Skip a jig under the darkest dock stalls.
- Fish it with a slow hop-hop-pause along the bottom.

Make the first cast to the shadiest outer dock corner, then fan cast the rest of the dock with a spinnerbait before switching to a skip bait if nothing hits.
