Throw a green pumpkin jig or black/blue spinnerbait first, and work it tight to the dock posts, shade lines, and the first deep edge. With falling pressure, overcast, and a south wind, bass should be more willing to feed shallow, especially around docks that have a little wind on them.
First move
- Skip a jig or soft plastic under the dock: aim for the darkest shade pockets and let it fall on semi-slack line.
- If the water got a little stained from rain, switch to a spinnerbait or chatterbait and cover water along the outside edges.
- Best cadence: slow hop, pause, then let it sit; with moving baits, use a steady retrieve with occasional kill-pause.
Why it should work
- Late spring means bass are often still shallow and dock-oriented.
- Overcast + falling pressure usually improves the bite window.
- After rain, bass often use docks for shade, ambush cover, and slightly cleaner water.

Backup plan
If they won’t touch the jig, throw a green pumpkin tube or wacky rig under the same dock and let it fall on slack line. Start on the wind-blown side of the dock row and fish the shadiest slips first.
