Throw a spinnerbait or chatterbait first on the shady dock edges, then follow with a soft jerkbait under the walkways and corners. With rising pressure after rain and partly cloudy, windy conditions, bass should slide up to dock shade, current breaks, and the downwind bank that gets bait washed in.
First move
- Blackwake Spinnerbait in a 3/8 oz size, slow-rolled parallel to dock posts and cable edges.
- If the water is stained, use a white/shad or chartreuse-white style bait.
- Keep the retrieve just fast enough to feel the blade thump, then pause beside posts and corners.
- Next cast: a 4.75” Twitch Jerkbait in Pearl/White or Green Pumpkin/Watermelon, skipped under the dock and worked twitch-twitch-pause.
Why it should work
- Late spring bass around docks are feeding shallow, but the rising pressure after rain often makes them more position-oriented than aggressive.
- 11 mph south wind with gusts near 20 is enough to push bait to the windblown shoreline and make shaded docks better.
- Cloud cover helps them roam; after rain, the best bites are often on the cleanest water near drains, runoff, or dock shade.

Adjust if
- If the water is very muddy: go louder and brighter.
- If the docks are clear and pressured: switch to the soft jerkbait and make longer pauses.
Backup plan
- Skip a Texas-rigged soft plastic under the darkest dock corners and let it sit longer than feels right.
