Throw a 3/8 oz spinnerbait first, then a skip-able jig or soft jerkbait under the darkest dock shade. After rain, bass often slide to dock posts, shade lines, and any slightly stained water where they can ambush bait without moving far. Today’s rising pressure and light south wind mean the bite should be decent but a little more precise: target the most protected docks and any pocket that gets wind-blown bait.
First move
- Primary bait: 3/8 oz spinnerbait in white/chartreuse or bluegill
- Retrieve: slow-roll it past dock corners, then kill it briefly beside posts or shade breaks
- Target: outer dock edges first, then skip to the back third where the shade is darkest
Why it should work
- Cloud cover and post-rain stain make a spinnerbait easier for bass to track by vibration
- Docks give bass a roof, shade, and ambush point after runoff bumps baitfish around
- If fish are pressured, a jig or soft jerkbait gets more bites than moving fast all day

Adjust if
- Water is more stained: stay with spinnerbait/chatterbait
- Water is clear: switch to the soft jerkbait or a wacky rig
- Fish are buried deep in shade: skip a jig farther back and let it soak
Backup plan
Work the first dock with spinnerbait → jig → jerkbait in that order, and make your next cast to the next darkest dock corner rather than fishing the same open edge again.
